We all know that caffeine can be beneficial for the body and mind. It treats conditions such as diabetes, asthma, improves mental alertness and reduces headaches. However, caffeine becomes a toxic nightmare when it is added to an artificial stimulants, cocktails, additives or sweeteners that can cause a heart attack or wreak havoc on your cardiovascular system.
Unfortunately, Red Bull – one of the most popular energies drinks in the world, killed 33-year-old Brooklyn father – Cory Terry. This person was an active, non-smoker who took this energy drink on a daily basis.
How Can This Drink Cause Heart Attack?
A study that was published in May Clinic has shown that Red Bull and other energies drinks can really harm your overall health, especially your cardiovascular health and can also cause healthy people to experience similar symptoms.
The latest study which included 15 healthy people who drank 500 ml of energy drink on a daily basis for one week has shown the following:
Increased heart rate by 11% by the end of the week and climbed heart rate by 8% on the first day. The study has also proven increased blood pressure by 10% by the end of the week and increased blood pressure by 8% just for 4 hours after drinking the beverage.
Both of these issues are connected with a higher risk of experiencing a stroke and heart attack.
Ingredients of Red Bull
This energy drink is consisted of several B-group vitamins, taurine, caffeine and variety of stimulants.
However, there is no research that proves the combination of all these ingredients.
Side Effects of Red Bull
Another study which included people drank Red Bull before go to the gym, has shown increased amount of blood pumped in and out of the heart. These drinks are definitely harmful for your heart and cardiovascular system. Stick to coffee and some other drink that have only one stimulant if you need a quick pick-me-up.
