The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in your body that runs down your spine and branches off, as a zipper, all the way down your legs. This nerve plays a key role in providing movement, strength, and sensation to each leg.
In case something applies pressure on some of the lumbar nerve roots, then you can experience sciatic nerve pain. Namely, a herniated disk, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, trauma, pelvic fracture or injury, spinal tumor, and more, can apply pressure to this nerve, thud leading to sciatica.
In fact, sciatica is a term used to describe the pain that affects the back, hip, and outer side of the leg. Furthermore, the most common symptoms of sciatica include cramping and a sharp painful sensation. These symptoms are typically followed by a tingling sensation and numbness in the foot, leg, or buttock. Sciatica often occurs on one side, not in both legs simultaneously.
Mild sciatica can go away naturally after a few weeks, whereas in some cases, it can last much longer.
In addition, sciatica occurs gradually. But, it can worsen after sitting or standing for prolonged periods; while coughing, laughing, or sneezing; or during the night.
There are a variety of conventional treatments for sciatica, including medications, physical therapy, steroid injections, and even surgery. But, some of them only provide short-term pain relief. Additionally, almost all medications and steroid injections used in sciatica treatment come with adverse side-effects.
Fortunately, here are a few effective alternative treatments that can lower inflammation and sciatic nerve pressure and relieve sciatica symptoms in 15 minutes:
– Foot Soak Protocol
It is recommended to do this protocol before bedtime for best results:
First of all, you should fill a bucket with hot water. But, make sure the water is not too hot to prevent burns.
Next, add 1/2 liter of raw, organic, and unfiltered apple cider vinegar and a handful of Epsom salt.
Simply stir and mix well before soaking your feet.
Allow your feet to soak in the solution for about 20 minutes.
Rinse and wrap them in a dry towel and then go to bed.
Wrap a towel on your feet to keep them warm overnight.
Do the same protocol as needed until you get the desired results.
– Seated Hip Stretch
Sit upright, and then cross the right leg over the left leg.
Afterwards, use the right arm to hug the right knee. Also, make sure you keep the back straight.
Stay in this position for a minute.
Finally, repeat the same procedure on the opposite side.
